The Rhymes of a Rustic Boy is Mick’s first collection of poetry. Observational of the changes that are occurring in Irish society in the wake of the “Celtic Tiger”, Mick expresses sentiments that many Irish people have about the losses that Ireland is enduring in the face of our increasing monetary wealth. In many of the poems he harks back to harder financial times but times where wealth was found in other ways - community spirit, mutual concern and ordered society.
